Zoe Compton is a self-taught painter based in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. She is currently working on an arts-based thesis investigating how narrative art can serve to develop one’s sense of self and artistic identity as they enter the teaching profession. Using a postcolonial lens, Zoe creates paintings based on her family’s history and considers how it influences her current position.

"Coming from an environmental background, reducing consumption is something I strive for. Art is inherently wasteful and the pandemic put to use my creativity in re-using the materials around me."  Z.C.
