Winter 2022: Æ is looking for Jurors for the second volume "Support Structures"

The Æ: Graduate Journal of Art Education submissions committee is currently seeking 3-5 Art Education graduate students to serve on the jury for the journal’s upcoming second volume, “Support Structures”.

The Æ journal is made possible by the volunteer efforts of the Art Education Graduate Student Association (ArtEGs) executives and the broader Concordia Fine Arts graduate student community. This year the ArtEGs are introducing a juried adjudication process to decenter and democratise the submissions selection process.

Serving on the jury of the Æ journal is an excellent opportunity to support your peers and to gain experience and insight into the adjudication process of an academic arts-based publication. Using a supplied rubric, each jury member will be responsible for independently reviewing and scoring a total of 20-25 image-based and written submissions.

Requirements:

- Jurors must be current Concordia Art Education graduate students (MA or PHD).

- Jurors must NOT have responded to the call for submissions for “Support Structures”.

- Jurors must be willing to commit to 3-5 hours of work reviewing submissions.(Image-based submissions are 3-5 images, written submissions are 2,000 words maximin. Submissions are about half written and half image-based.)

- Juror’s individual submission evaluations must be completed by: April 25th, 2022. A jury meeting will be held closely following the evaluation due date to discuss and rank submissions (approximately 1 hour).

Jurors will be selected on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Deadline to apply is April 6th, 2022.

For more information on the adjudication process or to apply to be a jury member, please email aejournalsubmissions@gmail.com with the subject line “Jury”.
